Cal, Justin Wilcox ink deal to keep head coach with Bears through 2023

Following a year that showcased remarkable improvement and a return to the postseason, Cal and head coach Justin Wilcox have agreed to a five-year contract that will keep him in Berkeley through 2023.
The lowest-paid coach in the Pac-12 at about $1.5 million per season when he was hired in 2017, Wilcox now will make an average of about $3.25 million, according to sources with knowledge of the contract.
“I want to thank Chancellor (Carol) Christ and Jim Knowlton for their trust and confidence in me, as well as in our staff, to lead our team,” Wilcox said in a statement provided by Cal.
