Kevin Hart’s homophobic tweets resurface as he’s revealed as 2019 Oscar host

Homophobic tweets posted by Kevin Hart – yesterday revealed as next year’s Oscars host – have resurfaced.

The comic is seen to have branded people ‘f*g’ in the messages published between 2009 and 2010.

‘Gay face’

Screen grabs show that in 2010 he tweeted: ‘U ever see a woman so horrible built that it makes u feel gay looking at her body? Lmao yess ol grace jones looking ass woman.’

One from 31 August 2009 furthermore reads: ‘lmao, that’s why u sweat 4 know reason u fat faced f*g.’

In several others he calls friends and followers ‘gay face.’

‘If I can prevent my son from being gay, I will’

Hart has also made homophobic jokes in his shows. In Seriously Funny, which was released on DVD in 2010, he wrote: ‘One of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay. That’s a fear.’

He furthermore added: ‘Keep in mind I’m not homophobic…Be happy. Do what you want to do. But me, as a heterosexual male, if I can prevent my son from being gay, I will.’

Kevin also starred in the critically-panned 2015 movie prison comedy Get Hard. It saw his character Darnell prepare a hedge fund manager played by Will Ferrell for prison. It is laden with homophobic jokes.

Previous LGBTI hosts of the Oscars include Neil Patrick Harris in 2015, and of course Ellen DeGeneres in 2007 and 2014.

Several films with LGBTI plots and characters expected to received nominations at next year’s Academy Awards.

Among them is conversion therapy drama Boy Erased, starring Lucas Hedges.

Another hot contender is The Favourite starring Olivia Coleman, which looks at the lives and loves of Queen Anne.
