Trying to get on the Bay Bridge? Lanes are open after big-rig crash but San Francisco is gridlocked

Streets in San Francisco leading to the Bay Bridge were gridlocked Wednesday afternoon, hours after a big rig traveling eastbound on the span crashed and jack-knifed, shutting down lanes for hours that caused major headaches for afternoon commuters.
“When you have an impact like that on the bridge, it’s going to have an impact throughout the whole afternoon commute,” CHP spokesman Vu Williams said.
California Highway Patrol officers are investigating what led to the single-vehicle crash, which happened on Interstate 80 east of First Street. The driver suffered minor injuries.
