Warriors can’t capitalize on Klay Thompson’s late outburst in OT loss to Clippers

LOS ANGELES — Klay Thompson adheres to a strict code: Regardless of how many shots he has missed, he’ll continue to hoist jumpers. Slumps can last only so long for one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, right?
After laboring through three quarters Monday night, Thompson unleashed one of his signature scoring binges, pouring in 13 of his 31 points in the fourth to lift the Warriors to an unexpected overtime. But with Stephen Curry sidelined by a strained left groin and Kevin Durant fouling out early in OT, the Warriors fell 121-116 to the Clippers for their second loss in three games.
“We didn’t play very well at all for about 40-plus minutes,” head coach Steve Kerr said.
