Warriors’ Damian Jones works to stay out of foul trouble

In going from the G League to the back-to-back NBA champions’ starting lineup, Warriors center Damian Jones has mastered how to give consistent effort, run the floor and throw down alley-oop dunks. The problem is that he isn’t on the court as long as head coach Steve Kerr would prefer.
To become more than just a serviceable fill-in as DeMarcus Cousins recovers from a torn left Achilles tendon, Jones, 23, must figure out how to stay out of foul trouble. In five of his 11 games this season, he has committed at least four fouls in fewer than 20 minutes. Jones’ 2.9 fouls per game are second only on Golden State to Draymond Green, who averages 14.2 more minutes.
Jones still struggles to keep his arms vertical when defending shots.
