Bobby Crosby among former A’s joining team’s development staff

The A’s, ever more in touch with their past, are extending that to their minor-league system, bringing back three former players to work in development.
The team announced Tuesday that former shortstop Bobby Crosby, who was the American League Rookie of the Year in 2004 while with Oakland, will join Double-A Midland’s staff as a coach; reliever Chris Smith, who was part of the 2017 A’s, will be the pitching coach at Class-A Stockton; and onetime A’s third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff will be the hitting coach at short-season Class-A Vermont.
“I’m super excited to be getting back into pro ball,” said Crosby, who has been coaching amateur players since a brief comeback attempt in 2013.
