Steve Kerr credits the late Tex Winter for changing ‘my whole life’

LAS VEGAS — Warriors head coach Steve Kerr opened his postgame news conference Wednesday night by sharing his thoughts on the late Tex Winter, who was an assistant coach on the Bulls teams that Kerr helped to three NBA titles (1996-98).
Winter, who is credited with pioneering the triangle offense, died Wednesday in Manhattan, Kansas. He was 96.
Wariors assistant coach “Ron Adams told me that Tex knew more about the history of the game and the fundamentals of the game than anybody he had ever met in his life,” Kerr said. “I was lucky enough to play for Tex for five years and learn from him.
“A lot of what I do here with the Warriors is patterned from things I learned from Tex. What a life he lived.
