Raiders snap counts: Defense’s second-half lapse came in limited action

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Factors contributing to the Raiders’ defense falling apart late in a 28-20 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday did not include overuse.
The Raiders’ defense was on the field for just 44 snaps – compared to 76 snaps for the offense – another indication of how thoroughly they controlled most of Sunday’s game. The Raiders had a significant edge in time of possession – 38:31 to 21:29 – and first downs – 25 to 13 – and still fell to 0-3 on the season.
Kickoff came amid 90-degree temperatures and humidity. But Oakland’s defense wasn’t on the field enough to really wear down in the second half. Miami scored three touchdowns in the second half on drives of four, two and two plays.
