Stanford men’s basketball lands Connecticut Player of the Year

In a late addition to this year’s basketball recruiting class, Stanford landed 6-foot-9 forward Jaiden Delaire, the Connecticut Player of the Year, the school announced Thursday.

Delaire was considered one of the top-rated players in the 2019 class but reclassified for 2018 after completing his course work at the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Ct. He transferred there as a junior from Granby Memorial High School.

At Loomis, he averaged 21.3 points and 7.4 rebounds last season, leading the team to a 17-7 record.

“He’s really good now, and the scary thing is he’s going to get a lot better,” Loomis head coach Rock Battistoni told The Chronicle.
