For the first time in a week, an A’s starter was off his game, and the Dodgers took advantage of the reins Sean Manaea gave them.
Manaea’s outing was his shortest of the season, while, on his end, former Oakland starter Rich Hill was solid, helping LA to a 4-2 victory and snapping the A’s six-game winning streak. The A’s remained two games ahead of Seattle in the race for the AL’s second wild-card spot.
After throwing 77 pitches, Manaea was out just 22/3 innings into the game.
“Just one of those nights it didn’t look like there was much life,” said manager Bob Melvin, who noted that Manaea will get an extra day off before his next start.
