Raiders’ Doug Martin says O-line “probably the best” he’s played behind

Less than a week into his first training camp with the Raiders, running back Doug Martin already sees a lot to like.

There’s his new offensive line, which Martin over the weekend termed “probably the best running line that I’ve ran behind.” There’s also a running scheme that Martin, whom the Raiders signed in spring to complement Marshawn Lynch, said plays to his strengths.

In Tampa Bay, where he played his first six NFL seasons, Martin said the running game used primarily a zone-blocking scheme with “a few” more direct gap-blocking plays. At times, it was highly successful: Martin topped 1,400 rushing yards in two seasons including in 2015, when he made first-team All Pro.
