Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne caught 16 passes as an undrafted rookie, but his biggest moment last year came when he caught hell from 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Early in the season, Bourne put his roster spot in jeopardy when he missed a meeting because he “misread the schedule.”
“He said he was going to give me one more chance,” Bourne said, “and he didn’t really let me talk.”
And here’s Shanahan’s memory of the conversation: “I was very angry.”
As it turns out, the animated, one-sided meeting in Shanahan’s office was effective: The end of Bourne’s debut season was marked by punctuality and production.
