For the first time in 13 years, the A’s will open Mount Davis for Saturday’s 6:05 p.m. game against the Giants — and the team hopes to set a Coliseum attendance record for a baseball game.
Adding as many as 8,190 fans Saturday will bring the capacity to 56,782. The baseball attendance record is 55,989 for game against the Giants on June 26, 2004. Saturday’s game also will feature a reunion of the 1989 World Series championship team.
“Things are trending in such a way that we were confident in a sellout, and we get outreach all the time from fans who want to open that area up,” A’s COO Chris Giles said.
