Two men miraculously survived a single-car crash Wednesday that totaled their pickup truck and required authorities to free one man using the Jaws of Life, officials said.
The men were were heading northbound on Highway 160 near Rio Vista when they skidded off the road, rolled over and smashed into a tree, according to the Rio Vista Fire Department.
“When I saw it, I was sure they were dead,” said Brandon Wilson, a Fire Department captain who responded to the scene. “That area, it’s kinda known in our area, it’s called ‘Blood Alley.’ Bad accidents happen there every year.”
At 8:11 a.m., Rio Vista Engine 55 was called to the crash site on Highway 160, just north of Highway 12.
