With minimal fire behavior expected Wednesday, fire crews anticipate getting a better handle on the inferno ravaging the California-Oregon border, officials said.
The Klamathon Fire was 60 percent contained Wednesday morning — up from 40 percent contained the previous day — and remained at 36,500 acres, according to California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire.
Officials said overnight fire behavior, such as strong winds and low humidity, was minimal, allowing crews to establish more containment lines.
The number of structures threatened by the blaze decreased from 1,036 to 315 Wednesday, Cal Fire said. Eighty-two structures have been destroyed and 12 damaged.
