Dusty Baker’s long gone as Nationals, Bryce Harper struggle

How’s that firing of Dusty Baker looking for the Nationals these days?

Team ownership said it wanted to go in a different direction, and that has become a downward trajectory. In a division they were supposed to easily win, the Nationals sit in third place behind surprising Philadelphia and Atlanta and entered Saturday looking up at six teams in the wild-card race.

The Nationals lost 21 of 30 before two stunning wins over Miami. They trailed the Marlins 9-0 Thursday night following a players-only meeting, only to win 14-12, then won Friday on Mark Reynolds’ walk-off homer.
